Featured Faculty: Ping Wang – Associate Professor

At the University of Maryland, College Park, Ping Wang is an associate professor at the College of Information Studies (iSchool), and faculty member of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab. He is also an affiliate associate professor at the Decision, Operations and Information Technologies department of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. At UCLA Anderson School of Management, Dr. Wang serves as an associate of the Information Systems Research Program.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESEARCH?

I study what makes a technology popular and how popular technologies affect people and organizations. In recent years I have taken an ecological perspective to study how digital technologies support innovations in organizations, communities, and ecosystems.

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU ENJOY ABOUT DOING RESEARCH WITH STUDENTS OR SOMETHING YOU LOOK FOR WHEN PICKING NEW STUDENTS TO WORK ON YOUR PROJECTS?

I enjoy working with students who can do good work but never say how good they are.
